Even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic, we may haven’t had the opportunity to host many overnight guests, however, the following tips below can make them feel welcome in your home, and leave an ever-lasting impression on your houseguests for years to come! Brace yourselves though, because some of these suggestions are over the top!
This is a great first impression and a way to set the stage and make your guests feel special. As a bonus, if your guests indulge in alcoholic beverages, serve them with a mimosa or glass of wine while you (or your team) neatly put away their items in the guest bedroom.
Prior to your guests arriving, do a little reconnaissance on what they LOVE, i.e. sweets or snacks, smell goods or fragrances along with a personalized toiletry set, and place all the items in a luxurious goody bag. As a bonus – place a handwritten card into the bag and make it sentimental.
Make sure there are slippers, robes, extra towels, linens, and tissues, as well as a Wi-Fi or connected TV password sign, phone chargers, and bottles of water in sight and on deck.
Spray the bedding and pillows with a nice light scented room spray.
Similar to what you would experience at a hotel, make a breakfast menu for your guests to select what they would like for breakfast every morning during their stay and collect the night before (it gives you a little time to order last minute items via Instacart!)
Decorate a nice bar cart with bath salts, candles, soaps, lotion, and other relaxation accessories and voila, you have a spa on wheels! As a bonus – if your guests are into the spa and enjoy spa services you can even hire a mobile massage therapist to perform services in your home for your guests.
Now couple that with your amazing hosting skills throughout the duration of the stay and your guests will be raving about how your home experience is better than the hotel, and make guests feel special in your home. If they do, then you have just achieved the St. Regis Effect in your home. Round of applause!
